Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work assisting with a variety of specialized office support and administrative tasks, providing office assistance and administrative support for the area, preparing and maintaining detailed and/or confidential records and files, preparing reports, assisting the public, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Department Director.

- Acts as receptionist; greets visitors; answers telephone; provides information, answers questions and responds to inquiries or complaints; forwards calls to appropriate party; directs visitors to appropriate party
- Confirm and Schedule appointments as needed. File and maintain records; Update patients records on phone and as patient arrives for each appointment. Verify and process insurance details for each patient.
- Always maintains the highest level of confidentiality to HIPPA standards
- Adhere to strict safety guidelines and procedures to OSHA and office standards.
- Learn and operate various office technologies used in Dental office and be detail oriented to prepare and process business and medical correspondence
- Enters a variety of data into computer; checks and reviews a variety of data for accuracy, completeness and conformance to established standards and procedures; enters and retrieves sensitive and restricted information into computer system.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of office files, accounts, various reports and other records; compiles information and verifies data.
- Collect payments and fees; issues receipts; reconciles invoices with payment vouchers; prepares daily deposits; prepares bills; performs calculation and posts to statistical and other records applying knowledge of regulations
- Keep track of communications and correspondence with external resources like specialist offices and with other physicians offices; collect, sort, distribute and prepare mail, messages and courier deliveries for the department.
- Transmit information or documents to patients, using computer, mail or fax machine; Demonstrate excellent communication skills by talking to others to convey information effectively
- Operates a variety of standard office equipment; performs light maintenance on photocopy and scanning equipment
- Maintains inventories and order supplies; prepare purchase orders
- Maintain regular consistent and punctual attendance and represent the practice in a professional, pleasant and cooperative manner.
- Be able to perform assigned duties both independently and cooperatively in team settings
- Must be flexible and understand the job duties may change and may have to work for other duties and with other departments as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of standard office and receptionist procedures and the operation of a multi-line telephone; general knowledge of the functions and activities of the County; ability to speak clearly, understand and follow written and oral directions; ability to operate standard office, computer and word processing equipment; ability to type on a typewriter or computer efficiently; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, clients and the general public.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires walking and reaching with hands and arms and occasionally requires standing, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED and minimal experience providing administrative support, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Note: In accordance with State mandates and the Rockingham County Emergency Operations Plan, Rockingham County Health and Human Services staff from the Divisions of Social Services, Public Health and Integrated Health are required to staff emergency shelters during times of disaster. Please be advised that every staff person is eligible to be assigned to an emergency shelter or Emergency Operations Center.
The Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue to work full-time in public service jobs. If you have student loans and you are selected for full-time employment with Rockingham County, you may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance due on your William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan after you have made 120 qualifying payments on those loans while employed full-time by certain public service employers. Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
For Full Time employees in a regular position, insurance is available and effective the first day of the following month after having worked for an entire month. The County currently pays 100% of the cost for regular employees working at least 30 hours per week. Dependent coverage is also available.
Paid Time Off

Local Government Retirement System
All employees in regular full or part time position are required to contribute to the retirement system. Contributions are taken on a pre-tax basis. The current contribution amount is 6%.

NC 401(k)- Employees have the option of making contributions on a pre or post tax basis to a 401(k) and on a pre tax basis to a a 457(b) plan.
Other Insurance
Insurance such as life, short term disability, and cancer care are available to regular employees and can be paid through payroll deduction.
