Banquet Server Job Overview : Banquet Servers work in our convention and catering areas delivering memorable and quality services to our guests. Our facilities strive to provide an exceptional event to our clients and we rely on banquet servers to deliver this. Banquet servers will work events ranging from 5 to 2000 people which can include weddings, corporate events, and conventions. Additionally, banquet servers contribute to the overall safety and security of the hotel by reporting damage, following safety rules, and assisting in emergency situations.
Primary Responsibilities :
Prepare the banquet area before the guests arrive.
Set-Up the tables with linens, chair covers, silver wares, center pieces, proper glassware.
Fill water glasses, bread baskets, buffet tables, coffee, teas and milks.
Serve meals and provide any items needed during dining experience.
Clear used plates and debris from banquet area.
Be an expert on food being served.
Deliver all service according to brand programs and hotel standards.
Abide by all state and local health codes.
Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment, replenishing supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
Must have professional, warm, and approachable disposition.
General understanding of the operation of a hotel event center.
Fluently read, write and speak English.
Hold and maintain any required food handling permit or license.
Hold and maintain any required alcohol awareness training/serving certification permit. or license.
Demonstrated ability to remain level-headed in hectic and tense situations.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a hotel convention space as well as offsite caters and a commercial kitchen. Regular exposure to heat and humidity in the kitchen. Offsite caters may be outdoors or in non-temperature regulated buildings. Various odors related to food product, cooking and cleaning chemicals may be present. Colored lights, loud music, smoke machines may be used during some events.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Required to frequently move around the event center and kitchen positioning self to deliver food and drink orders, stock supplies in lower and upper cabinets/helves, and clear dishes and debris. Will transport up to 300lbs, will position up to 50lbs. and will move up to 30lbs. required to move about hotel, event center and offsite catering locations.

Must have mental alertness, the ability to detect food irregularities and identify safety concerns.
