As an integral member of Certara’s business development team, your work as a Director of Business Development will involve identifying and building relationships with key decision makers both internally and externally. In this role, you will engage with potential drug development executives across the entire drug development continuum, and other key executives to illustrate the competitive advantage that Certara brings to help advance the clients program(s).
This is a highly consultative role requiring the Director, Business Development to uncover customer needs through a deep understanding of their corporate, program-specific, and personal goals and design a customizable solution. This role can represent the entire range of Certara Services solutions to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies within a designated region. The successful candidate is a highly motivated and energetic business development professional with a proven and demonstrated track record for identifying and expanding business in strategically named Tier 1 and 2 accounts.
Responsibilities:
Our Director of Strategic Accounts, in partnership with our technical experts, will be responsible:
- Develop and implement strategic account plans to achieve growth targets for assigned accounts taking in to account client development programs, objectives and priorities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and high-level contacts within assigned accounts, serving as a trusted advisor and strategic partner.
- Understand clients’ business objectives, challenges, and industry trends to identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and expanding the scope of services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical experts, project management, operations, marketing, and commercial strategy, to ensure alignment and drive customer satisfaction.
- Present and refresh Certara capabilities overview to all strategic accounts.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key stakeholders to assess account performance, address any issues or concerns, and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics, and provide insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze key account metrics and customer satisfaction and develop action plans to drive improvements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop expansion strategies, pricing strategies, negotiate contracts, and manage financial performance.
- Proactively informs the team as to progress against monthly, quarterly, and annual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical sales plan milestones.
- Represent Certara at industry events, conferences, and client meetings to build relationships and promote our products and services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, with an advanced degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in a business development, account management, or related role, with a proven track record of success.
- At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical services industry (preclinical through late phase development), with a proven track record of success.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills, with experience using data to inform decision making.
- Able to lead strategic business planning process based on a thorough understanding of industry trends and opportunities and effectively solve strategic challenges.
- Excellent strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement complex initiatives.
