As a Grants Management Specialist you may:
- Lead initiatives to draft, implement, and maintain financial assistance policies and procedures in accordance with applicable regulations and guidance.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on policy development related OCED’s large complex multi-million dollar financial assistance actions.
- Analyze and interpret legislative and department guidance to update internal policies, procedures, and guidance documents.
- Provide training, technical assistance, oversight, ethics advice, expertise, and consultation to other specialists, program officials, applicants, recipients, and subrecipients as needed.
- Assist in resolving management and administrative problems that arise in the performance of financial assistance actions.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-14: You must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Developing policies and procedures to support financial assistance awards; AND
- Interacting with high-level contacts such as Program Directors, legal counsel, and prospective awardees concerning the evaluation of grant agreements; AND
- Drafting written communications to present sensitive recommendations to higher authorities on policies affecting awards for energy related programs and projects.
NOTE: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-14 level.
“Experience” refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
