SUMMARY OF POSITION:
As a Post-Closing Verifications Specialist, this individual will be a crucial part of the post-closing QC team, ensuring that all mortgage loan files are complete, accurate, and in compliance with regulatory requirements. This individual will handle the reverification of documents, resolve discrepancies, and ensure that all documents are returned in a timely manner & processed accurately. Attention to detail and analytical skills will be key in ensuring the smooth and compliant closing of mortgage loans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Document Review: Thoroughly review all credit decision documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Verification: Verify borrower information, employment details, and other critical data against documentation provided to confirm accuracy and legitimacy.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues in mortgage documents or borrower information, working closely with loan officers, underwriters, and other stakeholders.
- Compliance: Ensure that all loans meet compliance requirements, including those set by federal and state regulations, investor guidelines, and company policies.
- Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed records and reports related to post-closing activities, including any issues encountered and their resolutions.
- Communication: Act as a liaison between the post-closing department and outside contacts to ensure all questions are resolved and requests for documents are easily understood and completed.
- Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks and audits on closed loans to ensure that all documentation is properly stored and accessible.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry changes, regulations, and best practices to continuously improve the post-closing verification process.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in mortgage processing, underwriting, or a related field with a focus on post-closing activities.
- Skills: Strong understanding of mortgage loan processes, compliance regulations, and document verification. Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with mortgage software systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS) and document management systems is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information and resolve issues effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with integrity.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
