Description
The Accounting Specialist builds relationships and trust with their clients because they are the first connection. The Accounting Specialist is responsible for all the monthly bookkeeping tasks including knowledge of sales tax laws, contractor compliance, and client education when appropriate. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately recording and categorizing financial transactions in QuickBooks Online. You will reconcile bank accounts and credit cards, troubleshoot any errors, and ensure the accuracy of all recorded transactions. You will also assist the Accounting Manager with various tasks and support the overall success of our clients.
Type of Position: Employee only W-2 Position, No Contractors
Position Hours: 32 hours per week (minimum)

List of Job Responsibilities:
- Categorize and record financial transactions in QuickBooks Online
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards, troubleshooting any errors
- Request documentation and information from clients, ensuring consistent follow-ups
- Run and handle client Payroll accounts
- Create SOPs (standard operating procedures) as needed for your role and duties

- Update the Accounting Manager on the status of client work and any delays
- Maintain confidentiality of clients’ information and handle all necessary sensitive data with care
- Stay updated with accounting principles, practices, regulations, and fundamentals
- Handle general admin tasks related to the bookkeeping team

Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Previous experience in bookkeeping or a related field.
Equipment:
- Dedicated home office space to work
- Efficient working computer
- Webcam (for weekly video meetings)
Job Non-Negotiables:
- MUST have accounting/bookkeeping experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in using QuickBooks Online and Google Suite
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Job Nice-to-Haves:
- Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations
- Experience with Financial Cents, Slack, Gusto and Notion
- Understanding of payroll, sales tax, W-9s and 1099 processes
- Familiarity with project management software and methodologies
