The Bruin Resource Center (BRC) is a department under Student Affairs that houses a number of identity-based campus centers and programs. The BRC provides support to different student communities, including students who have been part of the foster care and probation systems, students who are undocumented or a part of mixed-status families, parenting students and students who are taking care of other dependents such as siblings, students in recovery, students who were formerly incarcerated or impacted by the carceral system, and students who have experienced homelessness or house-lessness. Position Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Director of the Bruin Resource Center (BRC), the Program Director (PD) is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and assessing programs designed to support the academic wellness and campus integration of UCLA students who are: current or former foster youth, parents/caregivers, transfer students, student veterans, students in recovery and undocumented students. The Program Director also assumes responsibility for identifying and accessing off-campus community resources available to these students that will help them address the specific barriers they experience to succeed in a collegiate environment. The Program Director sets goals that align with the mission of the department and of Student Affairs as a whole, while assuming responsibility for the successes and failures of the BRC programs, establishing and prioritizing short and long term goals for the programs, and identifying measurable outcomes for the programs’ implementation, growth, and assessment. This includes participation in the development of organizational goals and objectives, strategic planning and assessment, and participation on campus-wide committees. The activities of this position will include the supervision of staff (professional and/or student) and volunteers involved in BRC initiatives, consultation and coordination with other campus departments (e.g., Academic Advancement Program, Financial Aid, Counseling and Psychological Services, etc.), and interfacing with off-campus service providers (e.g., the Department of Public Social Services, the Department of Child and Family Services, the Department of Veteran Affairs, etc.) to broaden the array of resources available to the various populations that are served in the BRC. Salary & Compensation: *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. - Knowledge of current issues and community services that have an impact on undocumented students (Required)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to present information clearly and effectively to individuals, small and large groups. (Required)
- Demonstrated skill in listening, counseling, and referring students to individuals, offices, or agencies, to resolve problems. (Required)
- Skills using word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, electronic mail, and other software in a windows environment. (Required)
- Ability to multitask and handle changing priorities and conflicting deadlines. (Required)
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse populations including students, faculty, administrators, family members, and the general community, from a variety of cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds. (Required)
- Demonstrated understanding of diversity that includes but is not limited to family make- up, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, ability, socioeconomic level, and religion. (Required)
- Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends. (Required)
- Experience with university programs and services focused on supporting undocumented college students (e.g., UCLA Undocumented Student Program) (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of federal regulations impacting student records, including FERPA and HIPAA. (Preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:
- Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required)
