POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the HMIS Manager, and in cooperation with other ICA team members, the System Administrator is responsible for providing project-based technical support to homeless service agencies and database end users using the HMIS. This position requires the candidate reside in Alaska.
Must be able to work remotely.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Do you want to make a difference in your community? This job involves helping Alaska’s homeless service providers use the HMIS database that is required by many of their funding streams. HMIS data helps unhoused people access housing, and it helps communities find solutions to end homelessness.

POSITION SUMMARY

The System Administrator is responsible for providing technical support to homeless service agencies using the Alaska Homeless Management Information System (AKHMIS).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Act as a liaison between ICA, partner agencies, state and local funders, and the Continuum of Care to facilitate effective collaboration around HMIS projects
• Develop/maintain knowledge of homeless assistance programs and related initiatives
• Provide technical support and training for HMIS users
• Communication – Work closely with project stakeholders and team members to understand data needs and identify/develop potential database solutions
• System Administration – Support HMIS project on-boarding, set-up, and management
• Training – Develop materials; deliver webinar or in-person training; conduct user testing, certification, and set-up
• Quality Assurance and Reporting – Support HMIS QA and required reporting for federal, state, and locally funded partners and programs
• Respond to requests for custom reports
• Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Experience and Education

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience or training (i.e., information systems management, statistics, social sciences)
• One to three years of technical, project-based experience or training
• Minimum of two years paid experience in a position with a high degree of responsibility

Required Background/Knowledge

• Knowledge of basic office equipment and technology; excellent computer skills
• Database software
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Project management principles
• Proficient use of inter- and intra-office communication tools such as email, video conferencing, teleconferencing, and similar tools

Preferred Background/Knowledge

• Experience in HMIS software or other complex databases
• Training or Teaching experiences Demonstrated Skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Understanding of how to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from partner agencies, end users, governmental entities, and community stakeholders
• Provide technical support to individuals with varying levels of technical knowledge
• Understand the evolving role of data and its importance to efforts to end social problems
• Regular, ongoing collaboration in project teams, including with remote staff
• Cooperatively or independently author training and procedural manuals or guidelines
• Ability to work effectively and professionally with people from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to learn quickly, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, anticipate and meet established deadlines, and regularly produce high quality work products in a deadline-driven environment
• Team player and collaborator with a positive attitude

• A valid driver’s license and proof of current automobile insurance

Travel/Work Schedule

• Occasional out-of-state travel for professional conferences/training (generally less than one week for each occurrence)
• Occasional local or in-state travel for community meetings or onsite support
• Schedule may fluctuate based on workload Expense Reimbursement
